JOIN US for the PROTEST AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY IN LONG ISLAND!
What: March on 5th Avenue Against Police Brutality
Where: 3rd Precinct, Suffolk County Police Department, 1650 5th Avenue, Bay Shore, Long Island, New York
When: 1PM, Saturday, April 13th, 2013
This April marks the 5th year of the police murder of Kenny Lazo. Every year we have been hosting vigils and protests, and every year, more Long Island community members join us. Be a part of this growing, passionate, & powerful movement of a small community that desperately needs the support, as police violence has plagued these streets for generations.
The officers involved in Kenny’s death had 7 PRIOR CIVILIAN COMPLAINTS against them for EXCESSIVE USE OF FORCE WITH BLUNT OBJECTS. Kenny was beaten to death with flashlights. Had the police department and justice system held them accountable, Kenny would still be with us. All 5 officers are still patrolling Suffolk County streets today.
This is why it is so critical that the community come out in masses to hold the authorities accountable. Until we unite against Police Brutality, more people will suffer from it, some will die, and more families will be traumatized for generations.
So come out and join us already!!! We’ll be mobilizing in the coming weeks to organize the rally & march, and we’ll need all the help we can get.
